Diaspora

There is a new social network that was launched in August of 2010 called Diaspora. They market themselves as “share what you want, with whom you want.” I am having a hard time distinguishing the difference between Facebook and Diaspora. Many years ago Facebook did not have the privacy settings that it needed, but I believe they have developed them immensely. Google + also markets themselves in a similar way by putting your friends and family into different “circles”, similarly to Diaspora where you place people in “aspects”. Prior to this I did not know what Diaspora was, and the fact that it has been around for over a year is not a great sign. Here is a short video on the fairly new social network.
